OUR story

The Hunar Foundation

The Hunar Foundation (THF) is one of the largest non-profit organisations offering technical and vocational training across Pakistan.

THF was founded by a concerned and dedicated group of individuals, some of whom are among the founders of The Citizen’s Foundation, and have also been involved in other successful NGOs like The Indus Valley School of Arts and Architecture, The Kidney Centre, Karachi Relief Trust, Chal Foundation, Indus Hospital, etc.

Having recognized that human resource development is the essential first step towards sustainable economic growth, THF initiated a movement to skill the motivated literate and semi-literate to provide training ‘with a difference’. The vision of the organisation is ‘A Skilled Pakistan’ with the with the goal of turning the disadvantage of overpopulation into an advantage by creating a new cadre of skilled Pakistanis, having better work ethics and improved moral and social values, and with ‘Internationally recognized’ technical qualifications, opening up a new world of opportunities. In addition to offering courses that are accredited by the Sindh / Punjab Trade & Testing Board, many of our courses / curriculum are approved by City and Guilds (C&G) UK.

  • 70% of the population under 35 years of age
  • 40% of employers say a lack of skills in the main reason for entry-level vacancies
  • For many of these young adults, finishing high school also signals their return to an uncertain future, with little or no guidance towards possible careers.

THF’s aim is to act as a ‘catalyst’ for alleviating unemployment as well as stunted economic growth by providing market driven employable skills. Aside from professional training, THF is also committed to creating better human beings by inculcating work ethics, social and moral values. We are specifically focused on these critical aspects of social conduct so as to produce a high quality, skilled workforce of integrity, and who are can enter the local and global job markets immediately.
